Glasgow Chamber of Commerce Step Up To Net Zero

Step Up to Net Zero (SUTNZ) is back!

This fantastic programme, delivered by Glasgow Chamber of Commerce and funded by Glasgow City Council via the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, has already supported over 80 businesses to advance their sustainability practices. It has created upskilling and reskilling opportunities for those on placements, with up to 1/3 of participants being kept on in their role. 

Now entering its third phase, the programme is welcoming 14 new businesses and participants to embed circularity into their operations, progress towards net zero emissions and focus on smarter waste management.

Finn’s Place 

A community wellbeing hub aiming to nurture engagement, ideas, and awareness of how to reimagine the space through a net zero lens, making tangible changes that inspire local people and organisations.

Specialists in architecture, engineering, and interior design, CRGP is deepening its commitment to adapting to climate challenges by integrating sustainability into its design and delivery processes, seeking to have a positive impact across the sector.

EGG Lighting 

A manufacturer of socially and environmentally responsible lighting, EGG Lighting utilises circular techniques in remanufacturing and is keen to gain further insights into its operations and better understand the complexity of its Scope 3 emissions.

Collective Architecture 

Recognised for socially responsible architecture, the team prioritise conservation, reuse, and retrofit. They are eager to build green skills to improve internal operations, collaborate with other values-driven organisations and work towards Glasgow’s net zero future.

Glasgow Theatres (ATG Entertainment)  

The Theatre Royal and King’s Theatre are among Scotland’s busiest theatres. Their ambitious environmental goals include sourcing locally for their café, calculating their carbon footprint, and finding long-term reuse solutions for waste.

Civic Engineers 

A team of systems thinkers in the build environment, Civic Engineers aims to lead by example in sustainable and circular practices, creating healthier and happier places In a way that can influence others across the sector.

Glasgow East Arts Company 

Operating from Platform in the east end of Glasgow, the organisation promotes arts and culture through a range of workshops and events. The organisation has taken steps to bring communities together to take positive climate action, with a focus on developing a robust emissions reduction plan with stakeholders.

The Pyramid at Anderston 

Located in a B-listed heritage building, the organisation supports community development and the arts, heritage and culture. The team want to tackle its unique energy efficiency challenges to ensure a sustainable future for the building and its surrounding community.

Anderson Bell Christie  

Designers of social housing, education, and community buildings, the firm is undertaking a strategic review of its carbon emissions, improving awareness of inhouse practices, and aims to further influence sustainable design practices with clients.

A small design agency looking to take meaningful steps to reduce its environmental impact. The team want to explore innovative ways to align their operations with key values and meet growing client demand for sustainability.

With all of the participants now in place, we’re looking forward to seeing what they’ll achieve over the coming months. Throughout the course of their placements they’ll receive accredited training, mentoring and development support to hone their skills.
